This residential semi-detached property is situated in an idyllic position ‘between the commons’, within easy walking distance of Northcote Road, Clapham Junction, and Wandsworth Common. The project involved a comprehensive ground-floor refurbishment and the erection of a contemporary glazed extension to create an expansive, open-plan living area. By combining the kitchen and dining spaces, the redesign offers an excellent sense of light and space throughout. The new structure was specifically designed to draw the garden inside, providing seamless access to the outdoor patio and enhancing the property’s modern family appeal.

The technical delivery was defined by the integration of a bespoke glass extension structure onto the traditional brick fabric of the original house. A key architectural feature is the installation of high-performance sliding glass doors at a 90-degree corner connection. These modern patio doors are engineered to slide away into individual cavity pockets within the insulated walls, completely opening the living space to the garden. To maximise natural light within the original structure, a glass roof strip was integrated to accentuate the longitudinal space. Our team managed the installation of flush floor tracks and minimal framing to ensure a level transition between the internal extension and the external landscaping. Through the precise coordination of traditional masonry and contemporary glazing, we delivered a high-specification finish that prioritises natural light and a strong connection to the outdoors.
