This project focused on the sensitive conversion of a magnificent Grade II Listed Victorian Gothic building into a luxury 37-bedroom hotel. The scope involved restoring original 19th-century features—including a grand central staircase and an 11-metre-high octagonal dome—while modernising the infrastructure to support 21st-century hospitality standards. Our delivery team ensured that all unique guest suites, restaurant areas, and leisure spaces met the high-spec requirements of a premium boutique hotel.
Restoring a landmark of this architectural significance required meticulous cleaning and repair of polychromatic brickwork and ornate Portland stone under strict conservation guidelines. We successfully integrated modern environmental measures, including high-tech acoustic insulation, intelligent lighting controls, and solar panels, without compromising the building’s historic fabric. The project was completed on time and within budget, ultimately receiving a nomination for an English Heritage Award for its technical precision.
